Member Spotlight: New Orleans Paddlewheels

May 15 2015 | Spotlight

When it comes to experiencing some of the most unique attractions New Orleans has to offer, the New Orleans Paddlewheels tours are some of the best. Consisting of the Paddlewheeler Creole Queen and the Jean Lafitte Swamp Tour, New Orleans Paddlewheels, these tours will bring you to two of the area’s natural gems – the swamp and the Mississippi River.

The Jean Lafitte Swamp Tour is the only swamp tour located in a national park – the Jean Lafitte National Park and Preserve. This is private land that is protected, meaning all wildlife is untamed and abundant, and you won’t find any other tours or visitors on the property. Visitors encounter beautiful cypress trees, plants and native wildlife like alligators, birds, wild pigs, nutria, turtles, snakes and more. The Jean Lafitte Swamp Tour is close enough to New Orleans – just 25 minutes away – to be a convenient getaway but different enough to offer a an escape from the city.

The Paddlewheeler Creole Queen is an authentic riverboat built that has been cruising the Mississippi in New Orleans since 1983. With its signature big red paddlewheel, multiple distinct rooms and three levels with outer decks, the Creole Queen is one of the signature attractions in the city. Offering daily Historical cruises to the Chalmette Battlefield and nightly Dinner Jazz cruises, each option is its own unique experience. The Creole Queen is conveniently located on the Riverwalk in downtown New Orleans close to the Convention Center and hotels in the French Quarter and Central Business District.
